Be An Idea; Not An Idol

Be An Idea; Not An Idol

If I were to describe myself in as few words as possible, I would describe myself as a philosophy, astronomy, and technology enthusiast.   I have a variety of interests that may change from one moment to the next.  I grew up in a little town called Woodbury, GA and currently live in Atlanta, GA.  I graduated high school when I was 16, went to the Army at 17 (much to the surprise of my family). Shhh, don't tell my old unit.  No one knew how old I was. I served my time with some great guys and we still are closer than brothers.

I believe that you should treat people the way you want to be treated which is the most important concept I try to live by.  Be as nice as you can until something else is required.  Don't walk around showing frowns all the time, you are not the only one with problems.  A smile to someone in need can make or break their day and you never know how much someone depends on your smile.  You are not entitled to anything that you are not willing to work for or earn, that includes respect. No one in this world owes you anything just by you being born, no matter what century or decade.

I know it sounds like just a bunch of quotes that I made up or heard, but this is what I believe.  I've been through a lot of trying things and they have made me who I am today; for better or worse. I try not to judge people unless you've given me reason. I believe you should stand by your word as best as you can.  You might not always be able to do so, but you have to learn to forgive yourself and ask for forgiveness if you can't.

You shouldn't try to be an idol, but try to be an idea.  Being an idol means someone is always going to find a weakness or fault; especially since they're looking for one.  But if you can be an idea for just a moment and practice that ideology, it will stand the test of time.   When someone says after you've gone, that you were always happy, helpful, and cheerful. They are looking back at the idea of you, not how perfect you tried to be.  I believe I was put here for a reason and to accomplish certain tasks.  When I find out what all those are, I'll let you know.
